Alphonsa College, Pala

Alphonsa College is one of the pioneering institutions for higher education of women in the state of Kerala.Established in 1964 with a mission to equip the students with deep knowledge and globally accepted skills. Affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and is included under sections 2(f) and 12B of the University Grants Commission (UGC). The college was NAAC reaccredited (4th cycle) with A grade. At present the College offers 13 undergraduate, seven postgraduate, one research degree,and eight career-oriented Add-on courses. The college played an important role in moulding Olympians and Arjuna awardees, who have become the pride of the country.

About RUSA Project

Our college was selected as one of the beneficiary under RUSA 2 on 2018. Fund was allocated for construction (Open Auditorium cum Volley ball court), renovation and purchase (purchase sophisticated equipment for improving IT infrastructure, strengthening library and setting up of research oriented laboratories in all the Science departments) with a total outlay of Rs. 2 Crores. Kerala State Nirmithi Kendra (KESNIK) regional office Pala has completed civil works under this scheme as Project Management Consultant (PMC). Renovation and construction works were completed during 2021, with the utilization of Rs: 11346880/-. The completed renovation works are: flooring of classrooms and laboratories, improvisation of work table and remodelling, renovation and modernisation of college canteen, renovation of student toilets, plastering of walls and painting.
