Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT)
Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) were initially constituted as the University of Cochin through an Act of Kerala Government on 10th July 1971. The University of Cochin was re‐constituted as Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) in February 1986, redefining its objectives as "promoting Graduate and Post‐ Graduate studies and Advanced Research in Applied Sciences, Technology, Industry, Commerce, Management and Social Sciences." CUSAT is now a world-ranking university with the specific purpose of developing higher education, emphasizing post-graduate studies and research in applied science, technology, industry, humanities, and commerce. CUSAT has consecutively been figured in the Times Higher Education World Ranking since 2017. The Times ranks around 1500 best universities worldwide annually with around 60 universities from India out of 967. CUSAT has also found a place in the QS World University Ranking and the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) of the India Government.
CUSAT TECH FOUNDATION was formed as a special purpose vehicle for RUSA funds on 24th September 2019 with an intention to facilitate economic development by improving the survival and growth of new entrepreneurial units and to develop students employability skills during and after the studies. The company has two hubs namely CUSAT-TBI and CUSAR-EI Hub for the attainment of its objectives. CUSAT Technology Business incubator (TBI) is for the promotion of entrepreneurship activities by students, alumni and staff of Cochin University of Science and Technology and also by stake holders from the general public. CUSAT Employability and Innovation Hub (EI-Hub) is for enhancing the employability aspects and for promotion of Innovation and research of students and research community of CUSAT and nearby institutions.
About RUSA Project
The Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan is the central government’s contribution to further the promise held by the rich expanse of India’s state universities. The country’s future lies in empowering these campuses with all that it takes to enhance learning, better research and promote innovation. CUSAT Foundation conduct programmes and provide services with the fund provided by RUSA. CUSAT received approval for grant of Rs. 50 crores from MHRD and Government of Kerala under the Rusa 2.0 scheme of Government of India.
