Government Sanskrit College Tripunithura

The College was established on 14th January 1914 by His Highness Sri Rama Varma, Maharaja of Cochin, for the preservation and advancement of the indigenous system of Sanskrit study in its higher branches. In 1926 Sastra Sadas was conducted in the College for the first time and since then it has become an important unique annual feature of the College. In June 1962, the Government ordered the upgrading of the College by introducing gradually by the University Previous and Degree classes by abolishing the Sastra section. At present the College offers five UG Programs – Jyothisha, Nyaya, Sahitya, Vedanta and Vyakarana and four PG Programs in Sanskrit special subjects Nyaya, Sahitya, Vedanta and Vyakarana The College has approved centre for research in Sanskrit of the M.G University from1993 onwards. The college was accredited by NAAC with B grade in 2009 for the first time and got re-accreditation in 2017 with A Grade.

About RUSA Project

Govt. Sanskrit College Tripunithura became a RUSA beneficiary institution after its re- accreditation by NAAC wit A Grade. Infrastructure development is the component under which development works are going on here in the college. We have a Board of governors and Project Monitoring Unit for the proper implementation of the RUSA project. Construction of classrooms, renovation of auditorium and toilets, and purchase of different equipments are included in the project. Classrooms are constructed as the first floor of existing canteen building with an estimate of Rs.One crore which is completed and inaugurated. For different renovation activities the estimated amount is Rs. 74,190000/. For purchase an amount of Rs.2581000/ is estimated.
