Govt. College Kasaragod, established by the Govt. of Kerala in 1957, is recognised by the UGC from its very inception and was initially affiliated to Kerala University. With the formation of the University of Calicut, the College became affiliated to it and after the formation of the Kannur University; the affiliation was shifted to Kannur University and is continuing so. Presently the College has 14 Under Graduate, 8 Post Graduate and 7 Research Programmes. The College has previously earned NIRF Positions 83 and 82. It was previously NAAC re-accredited with A Grade and is presently preparing for the next cycle of NAAC re-accreditation. Presently, there are 1805 students of which 430 are male and 1375 are female. There is also one transgender student. There are 82 permanent teachers, 21 guest Lecturers and 43 Non- teaching staff. The institution caters to the educational needs of the students from all over the State of Kerala and UT of Lakshadweep.
