Mar Ivanios College, founded on 1 August 1949 by Servant of God His Grace Archbishop Mar Ivanios and managed by the Malankara Syrian Catholic Church, is affiliated to the University of Kerala and runs under the patronage of His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos, the Major Archbishop of the Malankara Archiepiscopal Church. Mar Ivanios College is the first private aided college in the University of Kerala to get accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council in 1999.The College was re-accredited with ‘A’ Grade in 2004, then again in 2011 with ‘A’ grade and with a CGPA of 3.38, and ‘A+’ grade in the 4th Cycle in 2019. Mar Ivanios College also received the status of College with Potential for Excellence in 2007 and then in 2014. The college was also awarded DST-FIST support in 2008, 2011 and in 2017. In 2009 the Indian Space Research Organization selected the College for conducting laboratory course in Physics and Chemistry for Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology. In 2011 Star college status was conferred by DBT and also was recognized by the British Council and the Cambridge ESOL as a Cambridge University BEC Examination Centre. The College was conferred with Autonomy status in 2014. The college has maintained a position in the All India NIRF ranking within the first fifty ranks in the country for the fifth consecutive year.
