Mahatma Gandhi College, Iritty

Mahatma Gandhi College is the realization of a dream of the people of this region. Iritty Education Society sought the permission of Calicut University and Kerala Government to start an aided College. The society purchased 17 acres of land at Keezhurkunnu, as the permanent site for College. The site is noted for its scenic beauty and calm atmosphere needed for scholarly pursuits. The college started functioning on 13th July 1995 with affiliation to Calicut University. Presently the college is affiliated to Kannur University. The college got accreditation with 'A' grade by NAAC in 2016. Prof. M.P. Lakshmanan was the founder principal. Now, Dr. Shijo M Joseph is in charge of Principal and Sri. C V Joseph is the Manager. The college offers U.G programmes in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Commerce and Management along with two P.G programmes, MSc. Mathematics and M.Com.

About RUSA Project

The amount has been sanctioned for construction, renovation and purchase. The construction work of new academic block is in progress and 95% of the work is completed. The newly constructed academic block includes faculty room, two classrooms, and laboratory. The building has been designed with special importance to Divyangjan (physically challenged) persons. Renovation work is completed. College Office has been renovated by floor tiling and roofing. Cabin arrangements were made in the Office. Toilet blocks of Girls and Boys were renovated using quality bathroom fittings and laying floor tiles. Floors of all classrooms were tiled using the fund.
