N.S.S. College, Ottapalam
N.S.S. College, Ottapalam, affiliated to the University of Calicut was born out of the dreams of the great visionary and social reformer, Bharata Kesari Sri. Mannath Padmanabhan. It was consecrated by Swami Vishadanandha, President of Sree Ramakrishna Ashram, Palappuram and was formally inaugurated by Mrs. Prabhakaran Thampan on 10th July 1961. In July 1962 it was upgraded and was shifted to the present site. The premises of the College consist mostly of land donated by Smt. K.P.S. Menon and Sri. Vapala Sankaranarayana Menon. There have been others too who must indeed be remembered with gratitude. At present this institution is a fully fledged Grade I College with 13 UG course and 6 PG courses. College is Accredited by NAAC with grade A.
About RUSA Project
N.S.S. College, Ottapalam-3 is a RUSA 2.0 beneficiary institution. A grant of Rupees 2 crores was sanctioned by RUSA. The detailed Project Report submitted by the college has three components: Component-I aims at the construction of a new building consisting of four class rooms, a staff room, and Rest room facilities for students and teachers. Component-II aims at the renovation of existing facilities of the college which includes the upgradation of the history block with an examination hall cum class room above the present building, False Ceiling and Tiling of class rooms and Front lobby of the college. Component-III aims at providing academic infrastructural facilities to the students.
