Peet Memorial Training College, Mavelikara
Peet Memorial Training College, Mavelikara was founded in 1960 in memory of Rev. Joseph Peet, the visionary missionary who worked for the upliftment of downtrodden. The college was started by Rt. Rev. Dr. M.M. John, Bishop of Madhya Kerala Diocese (MKD) of the Church of South India (CSI), one of the leading educational agencies in Kerala, with Sri. A. Cherian, retired Deputy Director of Education as the first principal. The college is an aided Christian Minority institution approved by the National Commission for Minority Educational Institution and Affiliated to the University of Kerala and approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), it was accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade in 2016. The college spreads over an extensive campus and offers the B.Ed. course in 6 subjects (English, Commerce, Mathematics, Physical Science, Natural Science & Social Science) and the M.Ed. Course (Self financing stream). A total of 15 teachers comprises the teaching faculty, while the non-teaching staff comprises of 11 members. Among the faculty, 10 hold a Ph.D. degree and 2 hold an M.Phil. degree.
About RUSA Project
A total of Rs. 20000000 was allowed as part of RUSA funding for the components construction renovation and purchase respectively in the ratio 100:60:40. The college has entrusted the Kerala State Nirmithi Kendra, Chettikulangara with the construction and Renovation works and an agreement was duly signed. Total project cost for construction is Rs. 1,00,00,000/- and renovation is 60,00,000/- Technical sanction was accorded on 14.01.2020 for maintenance work of academic and administrative blocks and the site was handed over to M/s Jayesh Creatives. The work was completed in January 2022. A total amount of 5333776 was spent on renovation including the centage charges to Nirmithi. Technical sanction for construction work was accorded on 14.01.2020 and the site was handed over to M/s Biohomes Projects Pvt. Ltd. An amount of 57,06,731,61 is spent on construction till date. 60% of construction is over.
