Sayed Abdul Rahiman Bafakhy Thangal Memorial (S.A.R.B.T.M) Government College, Koyilandy, named after the great Social reformer Sayed Abdul Rahiman Bafakhy Thangal, is located at Muchukunnu . The College was established in the year 1975 and initially it started to function at the campus of Government Vocational Higher Secondary School for Boys, Koyilandy. In 1985 the college was shifted to the Scenic hill station of Muchukunnu, a campus with the right ambiance for study and reflection. The college is affiliated to the University of Calicut and included under section 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act 1956 on 17/11/2005 and also been accredited with ‘B’ Grade by NAAC in 2016 after the second cycle of accreditation. At present the college offers 4 UG programs (B.A History, B.Sc. Mathematics, B.Sc. Physics and B.Com. Finance) and 2 PG programs (M.Com. Finance and M.Sc., Physics). . At present there are 580 students pursuing UG & PG programs under it. The Academic Master plan of the college formulated in 2016 focuses on identifying and addressing the special needs of rural youth. In tune with it the college has carried out development activities for an amount of Rs 26 Crore during past years which include activities like construction of compound walls, construction of main entrance and gate for the campus, construction of Amphitheatre, construction of Womens hostel, Boys Hostel, New academic block, New library and Research Block etc. Majority of the works have been completed and remaining are under construction
