Sree Narayana College for Women, Kollam
The Sree Narayana College for Women, Kollam, established in 1951, is one of the earliest and finest centres of higher education in Kerala, instituted on the vision of Sree Narayana Guru, the great seer, social reformer and philosopher. Ever since its inception, the college has been pursuing the principle of “Enlightenment through Education” as envisioned by the great Guru. The college is managed by The Sree Narayana Trusts, Kollam, and affiliated to the University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram under sections 2(f) and 12B of the University Grants Commission (UGC) in 1971. The college was graded B+ (2.65) by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) after the third cycle of the reaccreditation of the college in 2022. At present the college offers 15 undergraduate and 5 post graduate courses.
About RUSA Project
The project proposal submitted to RUSA 2.0 was to satisfy the critical infrastructural needs and provide a better academic ambience for the entire institution. The project proposal submitted for funding has been categorized under three heads: (i) Construction of a Science block to provide adequate infrastructural facilities for the proper functioning of the various science disciplines, including the newly sanctioned research courses. (ii) Renovation of various existing facilities of the college including Roofing for Library Block, Refurbishing Roof Tops , Flooring of laboratories of five departments, Renovation of Student Toilet and Paving of footpath and walkways to ladies hostel (Inter lock) and (iii) Purchase of sophisticated equipment for the setting up of research oriented laboratories in all the science departments.
