S.N.M. College Maliankara

S.N.M. College Maliankara, an aided higher education institution for the backward communities affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam, came into existence in the year 1964. The institution is functioning under the management and supervision of Hindu Matha Dharma Paripalana Sabha (HMDP Sabha) of Moothakunnam. College is offering UG programmes from 1972 and PG programmes from 1983 and Research programmes from 2011. Currently there are 13 UG programmes, 8 PG programmes 1Integrated Programme and two Research Centers. College is situated in an interior backward coastal area 7 km near to Cherai Beach, in Vadakkekkara Panchayath in Ernakulam District. The aim of the institution is always the upliftment of the poor and the backward student community of this underdeveloped coastal belt and also the holistic regeneration of the surrounding population. More than 2000 students are currently studying in this institution. Being situated at a remote rural area with inadequate transportation facilities, Nullifying such bottlenecks, our students pursuing UG and PG courses have become successful in achieving high positions in academic, cultural and sports and other curricular and non-curricular events. College is completing 59 Years of service and we are maintaining an Internationally Recognized Herbaria, Water Quality Analysis Lab, Weather Forecasting Station, DST-FIST Funded Departments, MoUs with National Level Research Organizations, SreeNarayana Study&Research Centre and a unique Learning Management System.

About RUSA Project

SNM College Maliankara Submitted the proposal before the State Project Directorate,RUSA, has been formulated by strictly following the guidelines and by taking in to consideration the long- term expansion possibilities of the College. The action plan Prepared by the IQAC and the recommendations of the Parent Teachers Association also were considered for prioritising the requirements specified in the proposal. Much emphasis has been given to improve the academic Performance, research output and overall quality of infrastructure facilities in the college. The proposal is structured in three phases. The first phase is the construction of a new academic block in the West side of the main block. The present proposal, estimate has been prepared only for the construction of the ground floor. The second phase is renovation. It is prepared to renovate the existing facilities and to provide some additional basic requirements for the students and staff members of the College. The third phase is purchase. It is for upgrading the laboratory and academic facilities and improvement of infrastructure facilities. College gave maximum emphasis to this by allotting a total sum of 50 lakhs for the purchase of laboratory equipments, teaching aids and for improving infrastructure facilities.
