St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Irinjalakuda is a Christian minority institution for women, affiliated to the University of Calicut and managed by St. Joseph Educational Society of the Congregation of Holy Family. The institution was established in 1964, the legacy of the institution flourished along the years with the increase in demand for higher education facilities for women from the segregated strata.. The college was awarded Autonomy in March 2016 and granted the status of College with Potential for Excellence by UGC in April 2016. The college is among the top 150 colleges in the NIRF ranking in 2021.The College, which is an answer to the ever increasing demand for higher education among young ladies, reaccredited in the fourth cycle at A++ level with 3.66 in 2023 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) - an autonomous institution under the U.G.C.
