St. Joseph’s Training College, Mannanam, Kottayam
St. Joseph’s Training College, Mannanam, in Kottayam district in Kerala, is a premier co- educational teacher education institution established in 1957, owned by St. Joseph’s Monastery, Mannanam of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) Religious Congregation. This grant- in- aid college established in 1957 is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). It was re-accredited by National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC) for the third cycle with A grade. The college offers two year B.Ed. (aided) and M.Ed. (self- financing) programmes and is recognized as a Research Centre in Education under the University.
About RUSA Project
The college availed 2 crores under RashtriyaUchatarShiskshaAbhiyaan (RUSA2.0) towards augmentation of infrastructural facilities in the institution. Kerala State Nirmithi Kendra was selected as the Project Consultant. The project has three components - construction of the new building, renovation of the existing college building and purchase of equipment. Under the project, the college completed the construction of a multi-facility academic block in the campus (100 lakhs) and the renovation of the heritage building and its premises (55 lakhs). The purchase component of the project for a total of 45 lakhs is yet to be completed.
