St. Mary’s College, Thrissur

St. Mary’s College, Thrissur is founded in the year 1946 and is administered by the CMC Educational Society under the Nirmala Province of the Congregation of the Mother of Carmel (CMC) in the Roman Catholic Church. It is first women’s college in Thrissur district. The college is affiliated to Calicut University and is included under sections 2(f) and 12B of the University Grants Commission (UGC). The college was reaccredited with A+ Grade (Grade point 3.41) by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) after the fourth cycle of the reaccreditation of the college in 2022. The College is now successfully running with 14 full-fledged departments offering 15 Under Graduate and 12 Post Graduate courses along with one doctoral program. In addition, College conducts various skill enhancement and certificate programs for overall capability enhancement of the students. Important facilities of the college include multipurpose computer and Browsing Centre, well equipped science labs, Language lab, history museum, Botanical garden, medicinal garden, RET garden, Butterfly garden, rainwater harvesting unit, Biogas plant, Solar power panels, Effective waste management unit, Gym centre and Health Hub and seminar halls with ICT facility and SMART class rooms etc

About RUSA Project

College has selected as one of the beneficiary colleges of RUSA 2 Project in 2019. Under the Proposal I (Construction) of the project, the College has constructed a Sports gallery in the College Sports ground and structural frame work of the lift facility with an expenditure of Rs. 46,38,600/-. Under proposal II (renovation) the college has completed the renovation works of Examination Hall and Marian Centre for Advanced Research unit with a total expense of Rs. 5361400/-. The inauguration of the completed construction and renovation works under RUSA 2 project, was done by Hon’ble Minister of Higher Education and Social Justice, Kerala on 28th February 2022. Under proposal 3, the College intends to purchase various sophisticated equipments for Science departments, Computers and accessories for smooth functioning of the Institution and purchase of books and e-resources for the library. The total estimate of purchase is Rs.1 crore. In short, the actualization of the present project may not only satisfy the critical infrastructure needs of the college, but also provides a better academic ambience of the entire institution.
