St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulam(autonomous)

St. Teresa’s College (Autonomous) Ernakulam, Kerala, a pioneering institution committed to the cause of higher learning of women and their empowerment, was established on 15th June 1925 by the Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa under the leadership of the visionary foundress Mother Teresa of St. Rose of Lima – a legend who opened up a new and glorious page for the empowerment of women, who was declared as Servant of God on 29 January 2016. This minority institution, the first Government aided Women’s College in the State of Kerala, is an Arts and Science College affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.

About RUSA Project

The college offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in various specializations including Arts, Science and Commerce. It also offers UG Diploma, PG Diploma and M.Phil (Master of Philosophy) programs in different specializations. The college is well- equipped with all the modern facilities including a library, laboratory, canteen, sports and Gym. Hostel facility for girls is also provided by the college. The present proposal has been formulated by strictly following the guidelines of the RUSA and by considering several aspects including the master plan of the college and the action plan prepared by the IQAC of the college. Apart from that, emphasis has been given to the recommendations and suggestions provided by the NAAC peer team. Attention has been paid to improve the academic performance, research output and overall quality of the college. Proposal 1 deals with the construction of laboratories for the incubation centre of the college, which is essential to provide adequate working space for the materializationof incubated ideas. Proposal 2 describes various items related to the renovation of the existing facility of the college that will definitely lead to an immediate quality gain. In short, the actualization of the present project may not only satisfy the critical infrastructure needs of the college, but also provide a better academic ambience of the institution.
