T.K.M. College of Arts and Science established in 1965 by the Late. Janab A. Thangal Kunju Musaliar, is an acclaimed citadel of learning in the city of Kollam. Re-accredited by NAAC in 2022 with an A++ Grade, which bears testimony to its potential for excellence, the institution today commands an unparalleled prestige in the academic community. Right from her inception, the Arts and Science College is renowned for discipline and academic eminence. Utmost care is taken to impart quality education. In addition, the college gives paramount importance to character formation and holistic development of the students. The diligence and enthusiasm evinced by the academic fraternity of the college help the students realize their aspirations. The enormous numbers of students who pass through the portals of this institution adorn numerous meritorious positions in life and this testifies to the unique distinction the institution has sculpted out for herself. Life at TKMCAS is a rewarding experience for the student community. The bustling and vibrant campus is consonant for extracting the quiescent academic, artistic, cultural, and literary and creative talents of the students.
We groom a community of luminaries for a future firmament. Presently, we have ten UG programmes and six PG programmes under the regular aided scheme. There are three research centres functioning in the institution. Our various add-on and continuing education programmes give our students adequate exposure to different disciplines and enhance employability. Social Service/Extension activity clubs conduct a wide range of activities every year which are aimed at nurturing the latent talents of students and making them socially responsible citizens. The institution strictly adheres to the principle of equity and inclusiveness, particularly in taking care of girl students and socially disadvantaged sections of the society.

TKM College of Arts and Science, Kollam was sanctioned Rupees Two Crore under RUSA 2.0 project for Construction, Renovation and Purchase.

RUSA 2.0 funded research block (Total Area = 4812 sqft) for multi-disciplinary research was constructed and opened for functioning. The construction work of the building was started on 2nd June, 2020 and completed by January, 2022. District Nirmithi Kendra, Kollam was the construction agency. The research block accommodates 1) Advanced Scientific Research Lab 2) High Temperature Instruments Lab 3) Computational Research Lab 4) Central Instrumentation Lab, 5) Processing and Fabrication Lab 6) Research Scholars Study Room and 7) Power Back-up Station (UPS). The research block was inaugurated by Dr. R. Bindu, the honorable minister for higher education, Kerala on 9th March 2022 in the presence of invited guests. The inaugural ceremony was held at college Auditorium with the prayer by the students. Dr Sahal Hassan Musaliar, the president of TKM college trust welcomed the gathering and Dr. Chitra Gopinath, principal presented a brief report of the project. Sri PC Vishnunath MLA, presided over the function and Sri N K Premachandran, MP delivered keynote address. Sri M. Noushad MLA, H. Husain and Sheeja Sajeev felicitated. Jb. Jalaluddin Musaliar honored the guests, Er. Geeta Pillai, Project director, Nirmithi, and Er.Rohit, Assistant engineer, Nirmithi. Dr. Mohamed Musthtafa. K, RUSA coordinator proposed vote of thanks. There were more than 700 participants including invited guests, TKM trust members, heads of sister institutions, former teachers, alumni members, students, faculty and non teaching staff.
Rupees 20 lakh was sanctioned for the renovation of seminar hall building which accommodates six class rooms, Multimedia computer lab and seminar hall. The work includes replacement of asbestos sheet roof with G.I. sheet, rewiring, replacement of plain asbestos false ceiling with gypsum board and re-painting. The amount sanctioned by RUSA for renovation component is Rs. 20 Lakhs only, hence the additional amount required has to be borne by the management. The renovation works completed and inaugurated by Dr. R. Bindu, the honorable minister for higher education, Kerala on 9th March 2022.
Rupees 80 Lakh was sanctioned for purchase of computers, network devices, lab equipments, furniture and library books. This component is remaining as the fund has not been received.
