T M Jacob Memorial Government College Manimalakunnu, Ernakulam

The College was formally started functioning as a junior college in September 29, 1981, On 1 June 1983, the college was shifted to the newly constructed building at Manimalakunnu. In 2012 the college was renamed as T.M Jacob Memorial Government College, Manimalakunnu.. Now the college offers three postgraduate and six undergraduate programmes. Department of Chemistry was elevated to Research Department in 2018.The college has the distinction of being one of the few state-owned Arts and Science colleges in central Kerala acting as a beacon of hope for education and inspiration for a large section of the poor and underprivileged people in the eastern part of Ernakulam district with rural backgrounds and limited options for higher learning.

About RUSA Project

RUSA Governing Body and Project implementation cell TMJM Govt. College decided to utilize the Rs 1,00,00000 RUSA grant for developing infrastructure of the college. Three projects were identified as immediate priorities viz a vis Construction of additional toilet facilities for Girl Students with an estimate of 1404725., Construction of New Toilet Block for Boys with estimated amount of Rs.2750000 and the Construction of a New Canteen Building for Students and Staff with estimated amount of Rs.5845275 . Kerala State Nirmithikendra Ernakulum Unit was selected as the implementation agency by the Governing body and Project implementation cell. Construction of 9 additional toilet units and Waiting area were completed as an extension to the Ladies toilet complex A Separate Men’s Toilet block adjacent to main block is also completed. Both the Toilet facilities have Special Disabled Friendly Toilet Units and Ramps with Hand rails for convenient access to the differently abled . Canteen building with Ramp access to both the floors is also completed. Implementation agency is yet to submit the final bill of the construction.
